SUCCEEDING BY THE APPOINTMENT- [PRT2] | By Rev. Obi Peters

Sunday 2nd Service:  | Feb. 10, 2019 | 8:30am

“For many are called, but few [are] chosen.”( Matthew 22:14KJV)

It is a calling that you are a lawyer; destiny has purposed that you will be a banker or lawyer. Calling is not just when a man stands or preaches on the altar as a pastor or evangelist. There are diverse calls but by one and same God. Many are called but few are chosen.

“And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. [Are] all apostles? [are] all prophets? [are] all teachers? [are] all workers of miracles?” (1cor 12:28-29KJV)

God knows that all of us cannot be pastors, lawyers; otherwise we

will all be useless in the battle field. God needs men in politics and the rest; several men are needed in diverse fields of endeavor. If all of us are pastors who then become the members? If all of us are lawyers who will be our business target? You cannot be in the same market where men like you in the same office are succeeding and you are failing. God puts men in diverse ways for special and specific assignment. There are few mothers but many pregnant women. The reason why we have problem in families today is because women who should be mothers are not. If God designed you to be a chief executive and you are carrying paper all about, hmm, you will carry paper till paper starts carrying you.

Your calling sometimes is seen by the things you enjoy. A man that enjoys to lead men is a leader, a man that enjoys to talk and others are laughing is a comedian.

The problem we have is that we see others open a salon and we want to imitate them, because we feel that is the business trending. What has happened to nursing, restaurant business, shoe making and medicine? That everyone is running into one thing does not mean you are meant to be doing same. There are some who are teachers who shouldn’t be teaching and are struggling; no wonder their student doesn’t want to remember them because they are a pain to them. The life of a man begins when he has found out the reason why he is here; so, you are not here by accident because you are meant to be a celebrity. All of us are not called to be workers for other men, some of you are meant to be CEOs.

You are chosen for this generation for something peculiar and unique; you are not mean to die casually that no one knows. People should know when you are born and when you die. The success of a man is measured by his assignment. Until you find out what you are created for, you will never make meaning on earth. The problem of the world is from men who don’t know why they were created. When wrong men occupy where you are supposed to be, you will suffer from their wrong placement of where you are supposed to be.

Who is a successful man? 2Tim.4:7-8

A successful man is not that man that has big cars, or has acquired big lands. Success in life is not a function of age. Any one that tells you, (‘don’t you see your mate, or can’t you see this one has money and you don’t?’) is not a successful person. The measure of a man’s success is not by what he acquired but by being able to finish what he has been given. The bible says that the life of a man does not consist in the abundance of what he has [Luke 12:15].

A man of success is a man who has found out why God has chosen him. As a man chosen by God, you must know when to start and when it is your time to leave. You can’t work as a banker all your life.

What does it mean to be a receiver?

It is to be seen as a liability. It is to be put in the circles of pest.

The value of ‘receivers’ is low; the value of ‘givers’ is high. If you want to retain value on earth, cease being a receiver but a giver to men.

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.” ( 2Tim.4:6KJV)

Every man created by God is an offering. Be ready to be handed over to, to be committed to, to live by and to be in accordance with what is expected of you.

Men that must be given to purpose must allow themselves to be given as an offering to other men. Until your life is offered as a sacrifice to make men happy that they met you, you have not started living your life. The quality of a blessing that comes to a man is dependent on the quality of his offering.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.”(Romans 12:1KJV)

As long as men are serving you, you will never have value in life. As long as you depend on other men for everything you will keep losing your value. Until you begin to serve mankind with the thing God has put in your life you are not yet a success.

Stop procrastinating; procrastination is the mother of frustration. Men who are always waiting for money are lazy people.

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” ( Heb 9:27KJV)

We have different kinds of appointment…

‘Death appointment’: So now that you are alive before the appointment of death, make the most use of your life. Work as if today is your last. Be in service don’t be idle.

The constant appointment: this is the one that gives you opportunity every day. See Job 14:14. Make the most of your appointed time now. Don’t give up, keep pushing it. Righteous man falls 7 times and rises again. Don’t go for pleasure first, go for service.

“These [are] the feasts of the LORD, [even] holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.” (Leviticus 23:4KJV)

Your seasons of appointment are days that very important for you not to miss. Rain will not fall in dry season, when it does, it means dry season is over. Everything in life happens in accordance with time and season.

See>> Eccle 3:1,2,11

The time of God is the reason why you are still alive. God’s time is not far from his faith’s time. Faith is always in the now. There is no time tomorrow, now is the time.

5 kinds of appointement

  • Time appointment
  • Man’s appointment (Pslm 75:2).
  • God’s appointment (Gen 4:25, Job 14:5)
  • Constant appointment (Job 14:14)
  • Death appointment (Heb 9:27).

Time is a very important factor. A man that will succeed in life does not waste time gisting. A man that is on appointment will choose his friends, what to eat and where to go. Your appointment in life is what harnesses by your function.
